HOW MUCH EXERCISE IS BENEFICIAL?

The simple answer to this question is, “As much exercise as you do.” Medical studies have shown that adults who are active on a regular basis reduce the chances of having a stroke. In an article reported in Medical News Today, 15 studies that included 75,050 participants revealed that even leisurely physical activity done regularly can reduce one's risk of stroke by 18%. Getting 150 minutes each week of moderate activity reduced the risk to 39%.1 In another article in the same publication it was reported, “A large meta-analysis of over 220,000 participants has shown that the more people walk, the greater the health benefits. For instance, the risk of dying from any cause, including cardiovascular disease, decreases significantly with every 500 to 1,000 additional steps walked each day.”2 Inspiration tells us: “Walking, in all cases where it is possible, is the best exercise, because in walking, all the muscles are brought into action.” (HR July 1, 1882, Par.1) So, let’s get moving this week, remembering, we were created to be physically active.
